“Are you sure you can’t stay?” Forbes winced at the wheedling tone that crept into his voice.

The time traveler’s mouth lifted in a gentle smile, and he reached out a hand to cup Forbes’s cheek.

Forbes turned without thinking and placed a kiss on Oliver’s palm, which must have been the right thing to do because Oliver’s smile deepened the laugh lines around his mouth, and his eyes grew soft.
